I’m Joseph F. Gioia, an independent insurance broker based in Boynton Beach. I help you compare Medicare and health coverage around your doctors, prescriptions and budget.
Here’s how I approach four conversations that matter when comparing coverage in South Florida.
01
“I want to keep my doctors.”
We start with the names of your doctors, their practice locations and the hospitals you use. I review those details against the specific plans we’re considering, along with your prescriptions and preferred pharmacy.
A familiar insurance-company name alone doesn’t tell us whether a particular doctor participates in a particular plan. Provider participation needs to be confirmed before you enroll.
Have handy: Your doctor and specialist list, prescriptions and pharmacy.
Tell me where you spend your time, how long you stay and whether you see doctors in both places. We’ll discuss how you expect to use routine care, specialist visits and prescriptions while you’re away.
Those details help guide the coverage comparison. We look at the plan’s rules for care outside your home area rather than assuming it will work the same way in both states.
Have handy: Both locations, the providers you use in each and your usual travel schedule.
Start with the dates: your birthday, when your current coverage ends and when you need new coverage to begin. I’ll help you work through the coverage options and enrollment questions that apply to your circumstances.
If you’re under 65, we can discuss individual and family coverage. If Medicare is the next step, we’ll review that path and what you need to prepare.
Have handy: Your current coverage details, coverage-end date and any employer notices.
A prescription costs more than expected. A provider says your plan isn’t accepted. A letter arrives and you’re unsure what it means. If you’re a client, contact me so we can review the issue and identify the next step.
I can help clarify plan information and work with the insurance company, pharmacy or provider’s office when appropriate. If you’re new to the practice, call and tell me what you need help with.
Have handy when we speak: Your plan information and the notice or question you want to discuss.
Meet by phone, Google Meet or an in-person appointment. House calls are available by appointment; we’ll confirm the location and arrangements when scheduling.
